TOTGA: Three Words (Ep. 3)

She couldn't function well at work because she couldn't stop thinking about Lucas. She wanted to talk to him but he kept on dodging her calls and ignoring her messages. Her boss was on the verge of firing her. Her friends were already annoyed because she'd been avoiding them. Her world seemed to be falling apart. She knew she needed Lucas to keep her sane. She couldn't afford to lose him. She sighed and fought the urge to cry. Her phone beeped and it displayed Lucas's message.

She quickly stood up and gathered all her things to meet him.

Her: Thank you for finally meeting me.

Him: What's that very important thing that you have to tell me?

She tried to hold his hand but he avoided it.

Her: Please come back to me...I need you...

Him: We've already talked about this. It's over. You have to move on.

Her: But how? I can't...I swear I tried but I can't move on...It hurts... (her voice broke)

He heaved a disappointed sigh and it felt like a sharp sword pierced through her heart.

He tried to convince her that they were better off as friends. After a while, she pretended to accept the friendship that he was offering. If that's the only way to keep him in her life. She was staring at him while he was talking to his new girlfriend on the phone.

Him: Alright babe. I'll be there. I love you.

She swallowed hard. She couldn't breathe. Those three words...that he used to say only for her is now for someone else.

He turned to her.

Him: I have to go.

He left her once again with a broken heart. She could even hear it cracking and yet she couldn't do anything to stop it. Her tears were threatening to fall. She looked outside and it was raining.

Her phone beeped and it displayed five messages from her boss. She read the most recent one.

Boss: COME BACK HERE RIGHT NOW OR YOU'RE FIRED!

She felt scared. She couldn't afford to be jobless at this point of her life. She quickly stood up and braved the rain. The rain poured heavily while she was running. She slipped and spilled all the contents of her bag. She felt miserable. She started crying, unable to handle all her misfortunes. She balled her fists, she felt like she was losing her mind. The sky cried with her, even harder. Her vision blurred as tears clouded her eyes. After a while, she could no longer feel the rain. She looked up, only to see a man holding an umbrella, towering above her.

Her: Who are you?
